Enhancing Identification and Assessment of Bulbar-Onset Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and ALS-Related Cognitive Impairment

Enhancing Identification and Assessment of Bulbar-Onset Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and ALS-Related Cognitive Impairment is organized by Prime Education, LLC.
Release Date: November 06, 2023
Expiration Date: November 05, 2024
Description:
Due to its rarity, heterogeneity, and overlapping symptoms with other neurological conditions, recognizing and diagnosing amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) can be challenging. Additionally, cognitive impairment in ALS, while not as well-known as its motor symptoms, is a significant aspect of the disease and drastically impacts patients' and their caregivers' quality of life. Unfortunately, due to a lack of awareness and the primary focus on motor dysfunction, cognitive impairment is often overlooked in ALS.
In this second Clinical Case Challenge in our series, test your skills in recognizing and diagnosing ALS and ALS-associated cognitive impairment. See how you stack up against your peers, and bring the lessons home with downloadable clinical evidence, expert commentary, and an accompanying ALS Infographic.
This activity is delivered in partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Learning Objectives:
• Identify early signs and symptoms to differentiate ALS from other disorders with overlapping symptomatology
• Apply the latest guidelines to guide accurate and timely diagnosis of ALS and classification of ALS subtype
