Description:
Faculty are often perplexed by how to best document poor performance. They typically are looking to find balance in documentation so that concerns are respectfully, but accurately, portrayed to the student. In addition, documentation needs to be clear enough to speak for itself in any subsequent challenges. The key to good documentation actually begins with establishing clear expectations for behavior and the ability to link performance concerns back to those expectations.
Objectives:
• Describe common challenges to documenting behavioral deficiencies.
• Discuss how to establish a framework for documentation using clear performance examples.
• Consider the use of various language templates in one's documentation practices.
