Diminishing Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Patient Outcomes: A Call to Action is organized by American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).
Released/Updated: Oct 25, 2022
Expires: Dec 31, 2025
Topics: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Activity Summary:
Racial and ethnic disparities (RED) in patient outcomes have been described frequently in healthcare. Goals for RED are included in the Healthy People Objectives as of 2010. However, a large research gap still exists between the volume of literature describing RED and the literature on how to diminish RED. Join this foundational session to learn about major examples of RED in patient outcomes and approaches to identifying and investigating RED and to initiating or advocating for further research.
Objectives:
• Describe the significance of racial/ethnic disparities in patient outcomes.
• Discuss why nursing ethics mandate nurses act and advocate.
• Summarize data and recommendations for evidence-based projects or research on racial/ethnic disparities.
