This session will equip RDNs and Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (DCES) with the VERY LATEST diabetes technology tools to help persons with diabetes (PWD) improve diabetes self-care management and achieve positive clinical outcomes. The speaker will review the various types of diabetes technology including continuous glucose monitoring, connected insulin pens and insulin pumps, and diabetes apps, and discuss their benefits. This presentation will also give you the tools to educate and support PWD in using diabetes technology with confidence.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
- Summarize the various categories of diabetes technology for persons with diabetes (PWD).
- Identify glycemic goals and key clinical targets and metrics from continuous glucose monitoring such as time in range (TIR).
- Describe four benefits of diabetes technology.
- Review the latest information on new insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, and connected insulin pen options.
- Discuss strategies to educate and support PWD in using these new diabetes technology options
