Description:
While using conventional thyroid therapy guidelines as a reference point Dr. Hui discusses the clinical application of desiccated thyroid formulations.  This lecture teaches Naturopathic Doctors how to safely and effectively prescribe desiccated thyroid in their practice.

Learning Objectives:
• Provide an overview of the clinical and subclinical signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism, including a discussion of the tests and interpreting results.
• Discuss the factors affecting thyroid hormone metabolism.
• Discuss the prescription, dosage and management, side effects, and goals of treatment for levothyroxine, including the application of the drug in special populations.
• Discuss prescription, dosage and management, side effects, and goals of treatment for desiccated thyroid, including the application of the drug in special populations.
