Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolus (PE) : New Insights and Interventions Course is organized by Baptist Health South Florida.
Course opens: 08/01/2021
Course expires: 07/31/2024
Overview:
Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) are the two most important manifestations of venous thromboembolism (VTE), which is the third most common life-threatening cardiovascular disease – after myocardial infarction and stroke – in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the annual incidence of VTE is one or two per 1,000 persons, and the overall mortality rate is between 60,000 and 100,000 annually. Dr. John A. Kaufman will provide an update on recent advances in the diagnosis and therapy of DVT and PE.
Learning Objectives:
• Describe current indications, techniques and outcomes for intervention in DVT and acute PE.
• Implement evidence-based risk stratification of patients presenting with DVT or acute PE, and initiate appropriate treatment.
