Description:
Major therapeutic advances have been made for patients with lung cancer, including the emergence of immunotherapy in patients with resectable non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the identification of oncogene-driven subsets of NSCLC and matched targeted therapy, and new approaches for patients with small cell lung cancer.
This Community Practice Connection™ program provides a review of some of the key discussed at the 1st Annual Hawaii Lung: A Multidisciplinary Case-Based Conference™, held in January 2023. This unique and engaging multimedia activity is ideal for the community-based clinician and focuses on the practical aspects managing patients with lung cancer, putting recent clinical trial data into clinical context. The program is designed for those who did not attend the live meeting and to help reinforce learnings for those who did.
Learning Objectives:

• Assess testing strategies to optimize tumor characterization and inform clinical decision-making for the management of patients with lung cancers
• Evaluate clinical trial evidence regarding the management of patients with non-metastatic lung cancers
• Integrate evidence concerning single-agent and combination immunotherapeutic approaches to manage lung cancers
• Describe current and emerging therapeutic strategies over multiple lines of care for patients with oncogene-driven NSCLC subtypes
• Discuss strategies for patients without actionable oncogenic drivers, including the role of chemotherapies and antiangiogenic strategies
• Determine approaches to mitigate and manage treatment-related toxicities in the care of patients with lung cancers.
