Community Practice Connection™: Paradigm Shifts in Presbyopia – Understanding Advances in Topical Treatment Innovations is organized by Physicians' Education Resource, LLC (PER).
Release Date: April 28, 2023
Expiration Date: April 28, 2024
Description:
Presbyopia is a progressive, age-related loss of near vision that impacts nearly all individuals older than 40 years. Despite its prevalence, presbyopia undertreatment occurs in approximately one-third of cases. Presbyopia can have a significant impact on quality of life and an individual’s ability to perform daily tasks of living. Current treatments (eg, glasses, contact lenses, and surgical correction) can improve vision, but they have limitations. Pharmacologic management is now available for presbyopia in the form of miotic eye drops that temporarily correct near vision. The utility of this strategy continues to grow as real-world data becomes available and additional investigational miotics are developed.
This Community Practice Connection™ program provides an in-depth review of some of the key highlights from the Southern Educational Congress of Optometry, held in March 2023. This unique and engaging multimedia activity is ideal for the community-based optometrist and focuses on the practical aspects of traditional and pharmacologic treatment of presbyopia. The program is designed for those who did not attend the live meeting and to help reinforce learnings for those who did.
