More than 200,000 people in the U.S. are admitted to the hospital each year with acute pancreatitis, and the incidence continues to increase (Mohy-ud-din & Morrissey, 2022). It can cause critical illness, and in the acute stages, it may even be fatal. Therefore, nurses and registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) need to be familiar with managing pancreatitis.
Goal and Learning Outcomes:
The goal of this course is to update nurses’ and RDNs’ ability to care for patients with pancreatitis.
After taking this course, you should be able to:
• Describe the presentation and diagnosis of a patient with pancreatitis.
• Identify management strategies for pancreatitis.
