Description:
There are several things to consider when caring for a neonate. What gestational they were born, what are their abilities, and what are their deficits. This program will review the brain development in a fetus and how it translates to the baby being born prematurely. It also covers retinopathy including pathophysiology, risk factors, and care for the neonate.
Program Objectives:
• Identify critical periods of brain development.
• Recognize different brain and spinal cord disorders.
• Discuss the risk factors and preventative strategies for retinopathy of prematurity.
