Description:
There are many causes of hematological abnormalities, including chronic diseases, nutritional deficits, medication side effects, and many more. It is important for clinicians’ to understand the normal process of hematopoiesis to correctly diagnose and manage the many different types of hematological disorders that exist. During this webcast, expert faculty will discuss the diagnosis and management of several common hematologic disorders.
Learning Objectives:
• Describe the normal process of hematopoiesis and the differential diagnosis of cytopenias, including anemia, thrombocytopenia and leukopenia
• Discuss common hematologic disorders that may result in elevated blood counts
• Identify recommended diagnostic testing to establish a diagnosis of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and anemia
• Recognize clinical management strategies for patients with bleeding disorders, including hemophilia and Von Willebrand Disease
