The Annual Immunization Update discusses the latest ACIP recommendations for adult and pediatric immunizations. This year's update is chock-full of important guidance for the influenza season, COVID-19, pneumococcal vaccine, and other opportunities for pharmacy-based immunizations due to missed vaccines during the pandemic.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
• Discuss the 2022 Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations regarding adult and pediatric immunizations
• Discuss pipeline and new emerging vaccines
• Review influenzas vaccine considerations such as nomenclature, characteristics, schedule, contraindications, and precautions in preparation for the upcoming influenza season
• Review COVID-19 vaccine considerations based on the most recent guidance
• Evaluate a patient's immunization history to determine appropriate vaccine recommendations based on the appropriate immunization schedule
