Advanced Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) Imaging and Interpretation

Advanced Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) Imaging and Interpretation is organized by UCLA School of Dentistry and will be held on Mar 02, 2024.
Description:
This is an advanced level continuing education course intended for . The course will build on the current parameters of clinical care — the TMD RC/DC— to address issues related to imaging selection and diagnostic interpretation. The course content will address.
• Fundamental measures of diagnostic efficacy and their application to clinical and radiologic decision making.
• CT imaging protocols and diagnostic criteria for osseous assessments.
• MR imaging protocols for diagnostic assessment of internal derangements.
• Considerations for prescribing functional nuclear medicine imaging.
Course objectives:
After successful completion of the course, the participant should:
• Be able to apply fundamental measures of diagnostic efficacy to clinical and radiologic decision-making.
• Be able to apply appropriate imaging for TMD RC/DC diagnostic assessment and categorization.
• Be familiar with protocols, advantages and limitations of CBCT imaging for TMJ evaluation.
• Be familiar with protocols, advantages and limitations of MDCT imaging for TMJ evaluation.
• Be able to detect CT features of degenerative joint disease.
• Be able to recognize unusual radiologic appearances that warrant additional evaluation, including systemic arthritides and other forms of condylar resorption, and developmental abnormalities.
• Be familiar with MR image protocols for evaluation of the TMJ articular disc.
• Be familiar with the applications and limitations of nuclear medicine imaging for evaluating the TMJ.
