Goal:
This activity will define caregiving and the burden caregivers face as a result of providing care for a person living with Alzheimer's disease, discuss interventions and resources designed to assist caregivers, and outline how pharmacists can reduce caregiver distress. In addition, the benefits provided to caregivers in the state of Florida will be discussed.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
• DISCUSS the psychological, physical, and financial impact of caregiving
• INDICATE interventions and resources available for caregivers
• RECOGNIZE the benefits provided to caregivers by the state of Florida
• DISCUSS the role of the pharmacist in reducing caregiver distress
