Goals & Objectives:
At the completion of this activity participants should be able to:
• Define addiction, its symptoms, and diagnosis
• Explain the role of the brain in addiction
• Identify abused substances and treatments for addiction
• Define diversion, its contributory factors and signs of diversion in a health care facility
• Identify the effects of diversion in the healthcare setting
• Discuss methods to deter diversion during the medication-use-process
