This video lecture course will walk learners through important aspects of Acute Visual Loss by developing a systematic approach to it. Our guest lecturer Dr. Alexander Tan will begin at the cornea and work back to the optic nerve touching on many of the causes of acute visual loss. Among the topics that will be discussed are:
• What to ask on history, and signs to look for on the exam
• Corneal causes such as Hyphema
• Vitreous hemorrhage
• Retinal vein and artery occlusions
• Optic Neuritis
Learning objectives:
• Review common questions to ask on the history of a patient with acute visual loss (AVL)
• Review a number of the underlying causes of avl
• Review examination recommendations, diagnostic tests, and treatments
