7th AO Trauma Course - Fractures Around the Knee is organized by AO Foundation and will be held from Aug 23 - 24, 2024 at University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany.

The AO principles of fracture management

• Fracture reduction and fixation to restore anatomical relationships.
• Fracture fixation provides absolute or relative stability, as required by the "personality" of the fracture, the patient, and the injury.
• Preservation of the blood supply to soft tissues and bone by gentle reduction techniques and careful handling.
• Early and safe mobilization and rehabilitation of the injured part and the patient as a whole.

Learning Goals
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• To define the treatment algorithm for fractures near the knee joint
• Recognize and deal with critical soft tissues
• Identify and address accompanying ligamentous pathologies
• Choose a differentiated approach to the tibial plateau depending on the fracture morphology
• To master the common approaches to the tibial plateau
• To master the common osteosynthesis procedures on the distal femur
• To carry out modern plate osteosynthesis on the patella
• Recognize and correct postoperative misalignments after osteosynthesis of fractures near the knee joint treat
