Prof. Dr. Thomas Thiele is the Head of the Institute for Transfusion Medicine at the University Medical Center Greifswald. From 1999 to 2006, Prof. Thomas Thiele studied human medicine at the University Medical Center Greifswald and completed his training as a specialist there from 2007 to 2013. He gained international experience in Croatia and South Africa. In 2014 he specialized in the field of blood coagulation (hemostaseology). In 2018 he completed his habilitation in transfusion medicine. Most recently, he worked as a senior physician at the Institute for Transfusion Medicine at the University Medical Center Greifswald. There he was the medical director of the blood donation and coagulation clinic. Thiele is, among others, a member of the German Society for Thrombosis and Hemostasis Research, the German Society for Transfusion Medicine and Immunohematology, and the International Society for Thrombosis and Hemostasis.
