Dr. Sarah Chiang is an Associate Attending Pathologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she has been a faculty member since 2013. She received her MD from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. She completed her residency in anatomic pathology and the Robert E. Scully fellowship in Gynecologic, Obstetric, and Urologic Pathology at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Thereafter, she joined Memorial Sloan Kettering and practices gynecologic pathology. Her research is focused on the genetic understanding of women’s cancers, particularly uterine sarcomas for which she has recently described several novel tumor entities.
She serves on the editorial board of Modern Pathology, International Journal of Gynecologic Pathology, and Journal of Clinical Pathology and is a contributor to several chapters for the World Health Organization Classification of Tumours of Female Reproductive Organs, 5th edition. She has published numerous scientific articles, reviews articles, and book chapters on gynecologic pathology with particular emphasis on uterine mesenchymal tumors. She is actively involved in the education of pathologists and clinicians, giving numerous invited lectures and postgraduate CME courses at both national and international meetings.
She serves on the European Society of Gynaecologic Oncology, the European Reference Network, and the Gynaecologic Cancer InterGroup expert panels for the development of uterine sarcoma guidelines. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the International Society of Gynecological Pathologists, the International Gynecologic Cancer Society, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathologists.
