Puja Patel, MD, is the Director of Child Neurology Outpatient Services at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and Associate Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Patel’s clinical focus is in general pediatric neurological care with a specialization in pediatric epilepsy.
In 2005, Dr. Patel received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Barnard College, Columbia University. She pursued her medical education at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 2009. She began her postgraduate training with an internship and residency at NYPH Weill Cornell Medical Center, completing it in 2011. She then came to Einstein, completing a pediatric neurology residency in 2014, a clinical neurophysiology fellowship in 2015, and a behavioral sciences fellowship in 2016.
Dr. Patel’s research focuses on clinical seizure prediction in the pediatric population. She is also involved in clinical epilepsy drug trials. Her work has been shared through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts, and presentations. She is also a reviewer for several medical journals including Journal of the Neurological Sciences, Pediatric Neurology, and Epilepsia.
Dr. Patel is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the Child Neurology Society, serving on its International Affairs Committee, and the American Epilepsy Society, serving on its CME Review Committee and its Guidelines and Assessment Committee.
