Dr. Michelle D. Reid is Professor and Vice Chair of Pathology, Director of Cytopathology, and Director of the Cytopathology Fellowship Program at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She hails from Kingston, Jamaica, where she started her pathology training, before moving to New York, NY, where she completed pathology training at Mount Sinai Hospital, followed by a Cytopathology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She has practiced for 17 years and is recognized in the field of pancreaticobiliary surgical and cytopathology. She has authored over 130 peer-reviewed publications and numerous book chapters on pancreaticobiliary tract pathology.
Dr. Reid is currently serving as Vice President of the Pancreatobiliary Pathology Society (PBPS) and Vice Chair of the ASC’s DEI committee. She has served on multiple USCAP, ASC, ADASP, Papanicolaou Society, and PBPS committees, and given numerous courses and invited lectures on pancreaticobiliary tract pathology (ampullary, pancreatic, and biliary tract) at national and international venues. She serves on the Editorial Boards of Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Human Pathology, Journal of American Society of Cytopathology as well as the upcoming WHO Blue Book on Pancreaticobiliary Cytopathology. Her experience in reviewing both cytologic and surgical specimens from the pancreaticobiliary tract gives her a unique perspective on the challenges faced by pathologists when interpreting these specimens.
