Dr. Matthew Ryan is a Clinical Lecturer in the Cardiovascular Sciences Section at the School of Cardiovascular Medicine & Sciences. Dr. Ryan received his medical degree from the University of Leeds in 2010, having completed an intercalated BSc in Sports and Exercise Physiology in 2018. Following initial training in Leeds and North London, he commenced an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship at King's in 2014, whilst training across the South London Deanery.
In 2018 he was awarded a British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Training Fellowship to investigate novel measures of myocardial viability during cardiac catheterisation. Following completion of his fellowship, he has continued as a Clinical Lecturer, with an interest in ischaemic left ventricular dysfunction and mechanical circulatory support, with funding from the National Institute for Health Research in the UK, via the CHIP-BCIS3 trial and the National Institute for Health in the USA, via a collaboration with Tuft's University.
