Dr. Maria Picken serves as the Director of Renal Pathology and the Tissue Bank at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill. She is also a professor of pathology and internal medicine at Loyola University Medical School. Dr. Picken is president-elect of the Renal Pathology Society and a member of the Board of Advisors of the American Society of Nephrology.
Dr. Picken earned her MD and Ph.D. degrees from the Medical University in Gdansk, Poland, and completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at New York University, New York. In addition, Dr. Picken completed a fellowship in Immunopathology at the same institution. Dr. Picken is a diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and in Immunopathology. Dr. Picken has published extensively on amyloidosis and related disorders and is frequently an invited speaker on this subject nationwide and abroad. Dr. Picken is also a member of the CAP Spokespersons Network.
