Dr. Mahathar Abd Wahab is a Senior Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Head of Department at the Emergency and Trauma Department, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. He graduated from the University of St Andrews (B Med Sc) in 1992, then obtained a medical degree (MB ChB) from the University of Manchester in 1995. He successfully completed postgraduate training in Emergency Medicine (Master's Degree in Emergency Medicine) in 2003. In 2006, he completed a one-year program in Certificate in Medical Law (Cert Med Law) from International Islamic University. He obtained his Fellowship in Emergency Critical Care Ultrasound from WINFOCUS in 2015. He also completed the Southeast Asia Healthcare Leadership (SEAL) Program from Harvard Medical School with a distinction in Capstone Project 2019.
He is also the Past President of the College of Emergency Physicians, Malaysia, and serves as an honorary visiting consultant to Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao, Philippines. He is actively involved in providing inputs and writing policies for the Ministry of Health in the field of emergency medicine. His area of interest is Emergency Critical Care and Critical Ultrasound, Medical Law, and Administrative Emergency Medicine.
