Kevin Albuquerque, M.D., is a Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Department of Radiation Oncology. He is a gynecologic and breast radiation oncologist, specializing in brachytherapy.
Dr. Albuquerque received his medical degree and a Master of Surgery at Bombay University’s Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College in India. He completed two residencies there and went on to become a senior resident and research fellow in surgical oncology at Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bombay. From there, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in the United Kingdom.
He then moved to the United States, where he completed a residency in radiation oncology at S.U.N.Y. University Hospital and a rotation in brachytherapy at Memorial Sloan-Kettering and Beth Israel Hospital.
Before joining the faculty of UT Southwestern in 2012, Dr. Albuquerque was an Associate Professor in Radiation Oncology at Loyola University Medical Center, where he also served as the Clinical Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology and as the Director of Brachytherapy.
At UT Southwestern, Dr. Albuquerque is an active member of the faculty, serving as the Director of Radiation Oncology Accreditation. He is a member of the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee (PRMC) for UT Southwestern.
Dr. Albuquerque is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology, the American College of Radiology, and the American Brachytherapy Society. In addition, he co-chairs the gynecological radiation oncology track of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology’s Annual Meeting Scientific Committee and serves as a reviewer for the Practical Radiation Oncology Journal and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, and Physics. He is board certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology.
