Katherine A. Hochman, MD, MBA has 22 years of experience as an administrator and hospitalist at an academic medical center. She was named the inaugural Director of the Division of Hospital Medicine and also serves as the Associate Chair for Quality. She started and grew the hospitalist program from 1 FTE (herself!) to over 50 in the health system. She understands both the practice and business of medicine, having launched the very successful, "Discharge Before Noon" initiative, which was published twice in the Journal of Hospital Medicine and was the winner of the 2017 Hospital Association for New York State (HANYS) Pinnacle Award for Quality and Patient Safety. She has experience working in a highly metric-driven environment and uses data, grit, and strong leadership skills to promote engagement and create change.
