Dr. Roberts is a board-certified thoracic surgeon who specializes in robotic surgery and other surgical treatments for lung and esophageal cancers. He earned his medical degree with honors from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and earned his master's of business (MBA) at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. His postgraduate training included an internship and residency program in surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore, Maryland, where he served as chief resident in surgery and completed an oncology and trauma fellowship. Dr. Roberts went on to complete an additional residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Roberts served as the Chief of General Thoracic Surgery at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine followed by various clinical appointments at Centennial Hospital and Baptist Hospital in Tennessee. He also held faculty appointments as an Instructor in Surgery at The John Hopkins Hospital and as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at both the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
