Dr. Strasswimmer received his MD and Ph.D. (papillomavirus molecular biology) doctorates from Tufts Medical School. He completed his internship at Harvard Medical School and his dermatology residency at Yale Medical School. He was a two-year laser fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard where he studied laser-related technology for skin cancer diagnosis and treatment. He completed a second fellowship in Mohs Surgery through Mohs College. Prior to moving to Florida, he was on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital and served as a member of the Faculty of Harvard Medical School.

He received the Sulzberger Research Award from the American Academy of Dermatology to develop DermBase, an online collaborative research system that produced a 20,000-patient study of Mohs Surgery, the largest in history, as well as the largest (7,000) prospective study of cosmetic fillers. He is the lead author of more than 20 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Strasswimmer is Certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the Mohs College.

He is the Medical Director of the Melanoma and Cutaneous Oncology Program of the Lynn Regional Cancer Center in Boca Raton, Florida. He founded the nonprofit Dermatology Medical Missions, Inc. to help dermatologists volunteer in the USA for the working poor and in Africans with albinism.
