Dr Bailey is a consultant gynaecological surgeon at St Michaels Hospital, part of University Hospitals Bristol and a subspecialist in treating all gynaecological cancers and precancers.
After qualifying from Glasgow University in 1993 Dr Bailey completed general gynaecology training in Newcastle before moving to Bristol to complete RCOG subspecialty training in gynaecological cancer treatment. She has particular expertise in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and complex abdominal and pelvic surgery. She has a longstanding interest in ensuring patients recover well from surgery and cancer treatment with minimal long-term side effects.
For several years Dr Bailey was the clinical lead for the gynaecological cancer department at St Michaels Hospital, the regional centre for gynaecological cancer. She is passionate about training the doctors of the future from medical students to postgraduate trainees and is Training Programme Director for the RCOG-recognized subspecialty training in gynaecological oncology.
She believes in holistic, person-centred care, offering a range of treatments for gynaecological problems including cancer.
