Jinan Banna, Ph.D., RD, is a registered dietitian and professor of nutrition at the University of Hawaii. Her research at the university focuses on obesity prevention, and she also teaches courses such as introductory nutrition and community nutrition. Through her nutrition consulting business, she helps working women lose weight so that they can feel confident and energetic and enjoy food without dieting.
Dr. Banna has conducted research on obesity prevention and developing tools to assess food behaviors and dietary intake at the University of Hawaii for the past 10 years. In addition, her work focuses on aspects of sustainable food systems, such as food waste reduction. She recently completed an assignment as a Fulbright Specialist at the Universidad VERITAS in Costa Rica. Her previous experience includes her position as an outpatient dietitian at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital and an instructor at the community college level in Sacramento, California.
