Dr. Francesco Giganti is an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University College London. He is an Academic Radiologist based at University College London and University College London Hospital. His clinical practice focuses on genitourinary imaging, in particular prostate cancer diagnostics, robotic pelvic cancer surgery, and focal therapy of prostate cancer.
He studied Medicine and completed his training in Clinical Radiology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, Italy. During his training he spent one year as a clinical research fellow at University College London Hospital in the Radiology department, specializing in prostate MRI.
His long-term research interests involve the application of magnetic resonance imaging in patients with prostate cancer. His academic training and research experience have provided him with an excellent background in this field. During his Ph.D. at University College London, he was able to conduct research on the application of magnetic resonance imaging in patients on active surveillance for prostate cancer (PRECISE score) and on the tools to improve prostate MR image quality (PI-QUAL score).
He is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences, and he has published several papers in high-impact medical journals. He has a deep interest in teaching prostate MRI to radiologists and urologists at a national and international level, and he supervises both undergraduate (medical) and post-graduate (Ph.D.) students interested in research in prostate MRI.
