Dr. Emily Mason is an Associate Professor of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she serves as Director of the Hematopathology Fellowship Program. Dr. Mason received her M.D. and Ph.D. in Molecular Cancer Biology from Duke University. She completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology fellowship training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. She joined the faculty at Vanderbilt in the Division of Hematopathology in 2016, where her clinical responsibilities include time on Bone Marrow/Tissue Biopsy, Flow Cytometry, FISH, and Next Generation Sequencing services.
Dr. Mason’s research interests include examining the impact of molecular changes on disease phenotype, prognosis, and response to therapy in myeloid malignancies. She has published approximately 50 peer-reviewed research articles, reviews articles, and book chapters and has participated as faculty in numerous national and international educational activities, including short courses presented at USCAP and ASCP annual meetings.
