Andrew B. Sharabi, MD, Ph.D., is a board-certified radiation oncologist who specializes in treating prostate cancer, head and neck cancer, skin cancers, and cancers that affect the lung area (thoracic malignancies).
His clinical research interests are focused on understanding the effects of radiation on the immune system and developing strategies for treating cancer with both radiation and immunotherapy.
His research findings have been published in top journals including The Lancet Oncology. He has also served on the National Cancer Institute's clinical trials planning committee panels.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health in 2015, Dr. Sharabi was a resident physician in radiation oncology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. While at Johns Hopkins University, he won numerous awards for his research, including the first place John G. Rangos Medal of Honor for Creativity in Cancer Discovery. He earned both his medical degree and a doctorate in immunology from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He is board certified in radiation oncology.
