Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akin Sivaslioglu graduated from Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine in 1986. In 1992, he received his MA (Master of Arts) degree in population studies from the Institute of Population Studies, Exeter University. After completing his specialty and associate professorship career in Ankara and Izmir Training Research Hospitals, he became a ‘professor’ at Mugla Sitki Kocman University, Faculty of Medicine. He is one of the opinion leaders in the field of ‘urogynecology’ in Turkey. He pioneered many pelvic surgery techniques and concepts and defined new surgical techniques (Sivaslioglu Thread Lift) in the repair of pelvic floor disorders (Sivaslioglu Modification in RVF/USL plication) and female genital cosmetic surgery.
His scientific studies have been published in many national and internationally respected journals, and his publication on the use of mesh on the pelvic floor is one of the most cited publications in the world. In particular, some of his publications have guided the patient management studies of some of the world’s active associations in the field of urogynecology.
Sivaslioglu's book, Practical Urogynecology, is an important source for current urogynecology. He published the “Sivaslioglu Gynecology and Obstetrics” textbook in 2021 and was the editor of the “All Aspects Gynecology and Obstetrics” textbook published in 2022. In 2005, he brought together the respected pelvic floor surgeons of Turkey, contributed to the establishment of the ‘Urogynecology Association’ and served as its president. He is still the bookkeeper of this association. He was elected as the president of the International Pelviperineology Society (ISPP) in Belgium in 2017 and is actively working as the vice president of this association. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of CİSED and the chairman of the Gynesexology Association. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of CİSED and the chairman of the Gynesexology Association. He has 109 articles published in national and international journals, and the number of citations has reached 907.
Professor Sivaslioglu, who organizes educational-instructional national and international congresses, live surgery, and cadaver workshops on pelvic floor disorders, pelvic anatomy and genital aesthetics, is currently the head of Mugla Sitki Kocman University, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
